The economic outlook for downtowns across North America is more positive than it has been since the Great Recession, says the panel of experts who provided insights for this year’s series of Looking Ahead articles.The experts selected have been in the trenches for decades, as well as leading some of the most influential organizations of downtown professionals. Their wide-ranging comments indicate the scope of work involved in downtown revitalization in 2016, and point to trends that will shape that work.
The wants and needs of millennials, coupled with rapidly emerging technologies, will impact everything from the types of development projects in city centers to the ways we travel and park to how we shape the public realm.
